School Washroom Case Study
Rothley Primary School: Classroom Toilet Upgrade
Timeline: Summer holidays - 3 weeks)
Scope: Refurbishment of 3 classroom washrooms
Three tired pupil school washrooms were set for a like-for-like swap this summer, but the Macaw team spotted the real culprit: a flimsy cubicle frame that made every door wobble and every hinge work loose. Simply replacing boards would have baked the problem back in.
Instead, we rebuilt the structure. Partition panels were taken higher and tied into concealed steel bracing, giving the cubicles the rigidity of a brick wall while keeping them light and child-friendly. Doors now close with a soft “click”, not a crash.
We clad everything in bright, anti-bacterial Polyrey laminate that laughs off marker pens and bleach alike and colour-matched the school’s house system. Soft-close hinges and tamperproof locks cut noise and maintenance calls.
Timing was critical. Our DBS-checked crew stripped out, first-fixed and fitted all three washrooms in three weeks flat—finishing a full fortnight before the new term. Teachers returned to a spotless site; pupils returned to washrooms that feel solid, safe and fresh.
“Macaw didnʼt just replace fixtures; they tackled the root causes. The rooms are dry, bright and incredibly easy to look after. Staff and pupils love them.ˮ

Macaws have been brilliant from start to finish. We contacted them after suffering from a leak to one of the toilet blocks and the resulting concealed damage to the boys toilets at the Oaks Scout campsite. They worked with us and our insurers to give us the best outcome with available budget, whilst working around our need to still be operational. The finished works look great and we are very pleased with the outcome. We are now looking to engage with them on further projects.Posted on Guilsborough CalendarTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Lovely new toilet and washrooms fitted in our reception area. Craig and the team went through everything with me before, during and after the job. The area was finished to a great standard and looks amazing. Very friendly service. Thank you.Posted on Adam SmithTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We engaged with Macaw Washrooms to refurb our 2 changing rooms, showers and referee’s room at our football club. They were nothing but fantastic from the start. We were visited straight away after making contact, and we explained what we were looking for and within days we had designs to peruse over, and after choosing the fixtures and fittings, we immediately confirmed the order. The project manager explained every step leading up to the start date as no question was too small and Mark and his team of fitters were excellent once they arrived and so professional. We also had problems with the drainage in one of the rooms, something that we have had to live with as a club for years, but Macaw have even sorted that out for us. We cannot praise Macaw Washrooms enough for the service they have provided from start to finish, and we have had amazing feedback from everyone. I’d just like to say on behalf of the club, Macaw Washrooms are simply the best and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. Adam Smith — Chairman, Ingles F.C.Posted on Google rating score: 5.0 of 5,

Commercial Washroom Case Study
Premier Paper
Scope: Refurbishment of office washrooms
Macaw’s Signature Range proved the perfect match for this prestige staff washroom upgrade. Chêne Colorado cubicles create a warm timber aesthetic, set off by anthracite designer radiators that add a contemporary edge while guaranteeing steady comfort. Hard-wearing Karndean planks harmonise with the woodgrain and handle heavy footfall with ease. An Isomi concealed-envelope wash-trough hides pipework and stores consumables, keeping surfaces uncluttered.
Verona back-to-wall pans with soft-close seats pair with Delabie soft-close, non-concussive taps to save water and eliminate bangs. Walls are wrapped in Perform Panel’s Dandywood Harmony cladding; its Aqua-Lock joints deliver a seamless, hygienic finish without visible trims. Delivered on a turnkey basis, the project finished five days ahead of schedule and has transformed a tired facility into a showpiece. All end users are delighted. Nigel Beesley, Facilities Manager, says, “Macaw’s attention to detail and premium materials have given us a washroom that genuinely impresses staff and visitors alike.”
Gardner Aerospace Case Study
Project Overview
Macaw Washrooms completed a washroom reconfiguration project for Gardner Aerospace in Derby, a leading aerospace manufacturing company and part of the Ligeance Aerospace Technology group.
The Challenge
With a growing workforce, the existing washroom facilities were no longer fit for purpose. The client needed to increase the number of cubicles and urinals whilst delivering a fresh, practical update suited to a high-traffic canteen environment within a busy manufacturing site.
What We Did
To maximise the available space, we converted the former ladies’ washroom into the new male facility, taking advantage of its larger footprint. The room was reconfigured 180 degrees, allowing for an additional toilet and two urinals, with new drainage and water feeds installed throughout. The new ladies’ washroom was fitted with three cubicles and a dedicated storage area for cleaning products.
The Result
A smart, practical solution that increased capacity for a growing aerospace workforce without the need for costly building work. Both washrooms now comfortably serve a busy manufacturing environment — clean, functional, and built to handle the demand.
Oaks in Charnwood Case Study
Project Overview
Macaw Washrooms completed Phase 2 of an ongoing washroom refurbishment project at The Oaks Scout Campsite, set within the ancient Charnwood Forest in northern Leicestershire. The campsite welcomes over 400 visitors during weekend camps, with constant use throughout the summer months from Rainbows, Brownies, Rangers, Squirrels, Beavers, Scouts, and Explorers.
The Challenge
The existing toilet block was dated and in need of modernisation. While the campsite is a beautiful, warm setting in summer, the facilities face harsh conditions during winter — cold, wet, and isolated. The project needed to be completed within tight timescales during the winter months, adding further complexity to the work.
What We Did
Working within the challenging winter conditions, our team delivered a comprehensive refurbishment designed to withstand the demands of a busy campsite environment. Water temperature controls were installed for safe use by young visitors. Frost protection and pipe lagging were fitted throughout to safeguard pipework during the cold winter months, along with individual isolation valves allowing specific appliances to be shut off independently in an emergency. Walls were over-clad with hygienic UPVC cladding for durability and easy cleaning. Non-concussive taps were fitted to reduce water waste, and new pneumatic flush buttons were installed delivering an efficient 5-litre flush. Three additional urinals were added to meet demand, and anti-slip flooring was laid throughout for safety. Colours were chosen to represent The Oaks campsite identity.
The Result
A modern, hard-wearing washroom facility built to handle the demands of hundreds of young visitors each weekend, whilst standing up to the harsh winter conditions of an isolated woodland campsite. Phase 2 continues Macaw Washrooms’ ongoing partnership with The Oaks, delivering facilities that are safe, hygienic, and fit for purpose all year round.
Lapstone Barn Case Study
Project Overview
Nestled on the edge of the picturesque tourist village of Chipping Campden in the heart of the Cotswolds, Lapstone Barn offers a stunning setting for the perfect wedding day.
The Challenge
Originally fitted in 2018, the washroom facilities had hosted an average of 150 weddings a year — and the wear was starting to show. With that volume of guests passing through, cubicle dividers, doors, and fixtures had shifted out of alignment and needed attention to keep the facilities matching the quality of the venue.
What We Did
Our on-site team carried out a full realignment of dividers, pilasters, and cubicle doors, along with repositioning of all locks and keeps to ensure smooth, reliable operation.
The Result
With new fixings and careful workmanship throughout, the washroom facilities are restored and ready to welcome guests for years to come — keeping the experience as polished as the venue itself.
School Washroom Case Study
Blakesley CofE Primary School
Timeline: Summer holidays (3 weeks)
Scope: Refurbishment of classroom washrooms and reception
The Key Stage 1 washrooms in this 19th-century village school were charmingly old-fashioned —right down to “Jurassicˮ cast-iron pipework, rattling sash vents and cracked quarry tiles. Charm, however, doesnʼt mop up condensation or meet modern safeguarding standards. Macaw delivered a full turnkey refurbishment that solved todayʼs problems while respecting the buildingʼs character
Healthy air, happy kids: we re-engineered ventilation with low-noise extract fans and ducting discreetly threaded through attic voids, ending decades of damp. Future-proof services: obsolete pipework was replaced with insulated copper feeds, point-of-use water heaters and non-concussive, water-saving taps.
Robust, bright interiors: slip-resistant safety flooring, wipe-clean uPVC cladding and colouraccent feature walls stand up to daily hard knocks. Splash-shaped mirrors add fun; energyefficient hand-dryers speed the turnaround between lessons. Child-centred layout: we removed a little-used urinal run to create an extra cubicle, fitted low-height doors with friendly thumbturn locks and used soft-close hardware throughout.
